Graphic Design – It’s in the details
In the first-ever installment of Design Details, I’m highlighting a custom invitation design for a golf tournament here in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana.
My client, LeBlanc Wealth Management, hosts a tournament for its financial-minded clients on a yearly basis. Instead of sticking to one theme or design aesthetic for all, the company has decided to have a graphic designer (that’d be me) come up with a new look for each.
The venue, Grand Ridge Golf Club, exists in a swamp setting. (Not unlike TPC Louisiana, home to the renowned Zurich Classic.) Cypress trees, Spanish moss and the occasional alligator dot the landscape.
I’d been also working on an unrelated project that focuses on the history of St. Charles Parish. Just a few weeks prior to receiving this assignment, I was reviewing old documents related to the origins Grand Ridge (formerly Willowdale Country Club) and the surrounding neighborhood. The story is quite fascinating and very hyper-local to Luling, Louisiana.
With all these tidbits in mind – and combining a fall vibe – I created a retro-inspired, swampified (is that word?) look for the event. LeBlanc Wealth Management also uses a logo to create t-shirts and promotional items. I was sure to create vector artwork that could be featured independently.
You can check out both the invitation and shirt design here. Let me know what you think by posting a comment!
Be sure to check back daily until New Year’s Eve to see more of my work this year… and get some insight into the Design Details…
